Description
Adolf is a small, relatively isolated
lake in the Phantom Creek drainage of the Vermilion basin, 28 miles southeast
of Crane Lake and 14½ miles WNW of Ely. Barely a third
of a mile long and rather narrow, it has no identifiable tributary streams
and no apparent outlet. There are no maintained portages into Adolf, the
nearest connection with established canoe routes being Boulder
to the southeast.
Adolf was not damaged by the Fourth of July windstorms of '99.
Campsites
Adolf is not on any maintained
route and supports no established campsites.
Planning Considerations
Adolf is on the way to nowhere, and unlikely
to be a destination in its own right, unless you're camped at Boulder and
looking for a vigorous afternoon hike.

Notes and Comments
If you do get in to Adolf send us a photo.
We'll publish it here. (It's the only way most BWCA paddlers will
ever get to see this lake.) |
