Description
Princess is a small, relatively shallow
lake on Princess Creek in the Little Indian Sioux drainage, 27 miles southeast
of Crane Lake and 13¾ miles WNW of Ely. Not much more than
¼ mile in length and relatively narrow, Princess sits on the boggy
high ground to the north of Schlamn Creek. Princess Creek enters the
lake at its north end, from the marshy expanse beyond, and exits at the
south end, passing through a large pond before dropping steeply, some 40',
into the Schlamn Creek bottoms.
Campsites
Princess is not on any maintained canoe
routes and supports no established campsites.
Planning Considerations
Princess is on the way to nowhere, and
not particularly accessible, though it might make an interesting overland
hike for parties camped on nearby Lunetta. Getting to Princess by
canoe seems rather pointless.

Notes and Comments
If you do get in to Princess send us some
photos. We'll publish them here. (It's the only way most BWCA
paddlers will get to see this lake.) |
