Description
Soroll is a small lake in the Glenmore
Creek drainage of the Vermilion basin, 26¾
miles SSE of Crane Lake and 15¼ miles WNW of Ely. Less than
½ mile long and under ¼ mile wide, Soroll sits just to the
south of Glenmore Lake. Soroll has no
apparent surface water inlet or outlet. It has no maintained portage
access.
The Independence Day windstorms of 1999 did not significantly affect
the Soroll/Glenmore area, the nearest appreciable damage being farther
to the north, beyond Western.
Campsites
Soroll is not on any maintained canoe
routes and supports no established campsites.
Planning Considerations
Soroll is on the way to nowhere, and unlikely
to be a destination in its own right, unless you're camped at Glenmore
and looking for an afternoon hike. The distance is reasonably short,
and Soroll sits but 7' above the shores of Glenmore. Glenmore is a
link in the route from Buck southeast to Crab,
passing through Western, Glenmore, Schlamn,
Lunetta, and Little
Crab.

Notes and Comments
If you do get in to Soroll send us a photo.
We'll publish it here. (It's the only way most BWCA paddlers will
get to see this lake.) |
