Description
Caribou is a moderate sized lake in
the North Brule drainage, 19½ miles ESE of Gunflint Trail's End and
61¾ miles ENE of Ely. Some 1½ miles long and ½ mile
across, Caribou covers 255 acres, most of it deep water beyond the littoral
zone, with a maximum depth of 26'. Campsites
Caribou supports 8 established campsites,
well scattered along its irregular shoreline. Planning Considerations
Wildlife
Caribou supports populations of Northern
Pike (Esox
lucius), Walleye (Stizostedion
vitreum), White Sucker (Catostomus
commersoni), and Yellow Perch (Perca
flavescens).
