Full image approximately 2 miles square

Carl is a small, shallow lake in the North Brule drainage, 23¼ miles southeast of Gunflint Trail's End and 64¾ miles ENE of Ely, one of many long and narrow lakes, with a distinct east/west orientation, which mark this eastern end of the BWCA. Only ¾ mile long it is but an eighth mile wide. The lake covers 59 acres to a maximum depth of only 22' and most of the lake is less than 10' deep.

Planning Considerations

Carl has a limited offering of game fish, supporting populations of Northern Pike (Esox lucius) and Yellow Perch (Perca flavescens).
