Description
Missing Link is a small, three corner
lake, just inside the BWCAW. Only 41 acres in area, it has a maximum depth
of 25'. A 142 rod portage out of the northwest corner runs down to the Round
Lake landing. Out of the northeast a 45 rod portage, not shown on all
maps, leads up to tiny Mavis while a 150 rod carry connects with Snipe
to the southeast. Out of the southern corner a long 366 rod haul takes off
to the south and west to Tuscarora.
Campsites
Missing Link supports three established
campsites, one in the northwest corner near the portage to Round, and two
along the western shore of the south end. Planning Considerations
Missing Link, BWCAW Entry Point #51, along
with its neighbor Snipe, provides a connection
between the two popular entry points at Round
Lake and Ham. They also provide the access to
Tuscarora from the east. Wildlife
Missing Link supports populations of Brook
Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis)
and White Sucker (Catostomus
commersoni), the former stocked in 1993 and 1995.
