Quadga
A lake in the Isabella River drainage. Name derivation unknown.
Quarter
To turn one's canoe at an angle to the wind in order to make progress against a heavy blow.
Quetico
The Ontario provincial park which lies immediately to the north of the BWCAW. Quetico is a wilderness park and generally considered more rugged than the BWCAW.
Quill
The defensive spines of the porcupine, used by Native Americans to create elaborate decoration before the arrival of beads. Kâgobiwe in the Ojibwe.
Quillwort
Any of several species of primitive fern allies of the family Isoetaceae. Represented in the North Country by Lake Quillwort (Isoetes lacustris) and Spiny Spore Quillwort, (Isoetes tenella).
