1846   Iowa attains statehood.  Clark County formed from part of the unorganized Kishekosh County.
1849   First settlers arrive in  Clark County.
1850   US Census finds total population of Clark County stands at 79.
1851   Clark County organized
1851   William Rook & family arrive in Clark County from Missouri.
1852 circa M.A. Rook is born, seventh child of William Rook and Sarah Wilson, in Clark County, Iowa 
1854 circa Town of Liberty surveyed and platted by Jerry Jenks, surveyor of Clark
County.
1854   Special state census identifies 24 families living in Liberty Township, the largest being the 11 person household of William Rook.

1856   First store in town of Liberty established by B.D. Truman.
